About the Role
We are seeking a full-time Research Assistant in Climate Compatible Growth to join the Energy and Power (EPG) research group at the Department of Engineering Science (Osney). This fixed-term post is funded by the Climate Compatible Growth (CCG) programme until 31 March 2027. The position will be based in Engineering Science and co-supervised by Professor Stephanie Hirmer (EPG) and Dr Jessica Omukuti from the Smith School for Enterprise and the Environment.
CCG is a £95m UK ODA-funded research programme running until March 2030, supporting developing countries to pursue low carbon development while unlocking profitable investment in green infrastructure, opening new markets, and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The successful candidate will support work on place-based decision-making, focusing on the social dimensions of critical minerals development, including community impacts, benefit sharing, and inclusive development outcomes.

Experience
Relevant experience in energy systems or energy access in low- and middle-income countries, with application to policy and/or economic analysis. Experience engaging with stakeholders to inform research and policy development is essential.

Qualifications
A relevant first degree and a master's degree are required, demonstrating sufficient specialist knowledge in energy systems or energy access in developing regions.
