About the course
The Basic Practical Domestic Electrical Course is a one-day hands-on introductory course designed to give learners practical experience and confidence when carrying out basic domestic electrical tasks.
The course focuses on understanding essential electrical safety principles and learning how to carry out simple tasks safely and correctly under the guidance of experienced tutors.
Learners will gain practical experience in:
- Wiring and testing a 13-amp plug
- Replacing damaged socket outlets
- Replacing light switches
- Replacing damaged flex and cables
- Changing light bulbs and fittings safely
- Identifying basic electrical faults
- Understanding when to call a qualified electrician
- Understanding essential domestic electrical safety principles
- Awareness of Part P of the Building Regulations
The course is also intended as a starting point for learners who may want to progress onto formal electrical qualifications
