About the course

This two-day course is designed specifically for domestic installers who wish to learn how to install, fault find, inspect, and test domestic electric car charging points.

With recent government announcements regarding petrol and diesel cars, it is estimated that by 2020 there will be 1.2 million electric cars on the road and by 2030, 50% of vehicles produced will be either electric or plug-in hybrid. This course provides in-depth knowledge to help you take advantage of this rapidly growing and exciting new market.

The course is delivered through a combination of classroom and workshop environments to ensure practical and theoretical understanding.

Electronic resources from the college Learning Resource Center will be available to support your learning.

Expected employment areas include the installation of electric vehicle charge-points, based on your electrical installation capabilities and qualifications.

On successful completion, you will receive the EAL Level 3 Award in the Requirements for the Installation of Electric Vehicle Charging Points.

Coursework will include a mix of manual tasks and portfolio work to consolidate your learning.

The course is delivered at the Willesden, Wembley Park, and King's Cross Construction Skills Centres.
