About the Role
GEDU Global Education is a UK-headquartered group of institutions and businesses operating across 13 countries. Its pioneer business, Global Banking School (GBS), founded in 2010, teaches over 35,000 students across 10 campuses in East and West London, Birmingham, Leeds, and Manchester. The Group also includes MLA College, MetaGedu, GlobalU, EP, and international campuses such as ICN, Schiller International University, EMA, GBS Malta, GBS Dubai, and APAC in Brisbane. GEDU partners with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and hosts CIFAL City of London, an international training centre for authorities and leaders.
This newly created role within a new team, led by the Managing Director for External Engagement and Sustainability, aims to:
- Secure recognition for GEDU Global Education as a leading UK-based global education group;
- Support public policy objectives of the group companies;
- Showcase and develop the Group's work supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs);
- Deliver GEDU's partnership with UNITAR.
The Advocacy Content and Sustainability Manager will work across the group companies to build and communicate compelling advocacy, thought leadership, and profile-building content related to the Group’s SDG efforts. The role supports senior leadership in improving sustainability performance and helps design and deliver CIFAL City of London’s capacity-building events that promote SDG achievement.
Key Responsibilities
- Create evidence-based thought leadership content including an annual GEDU sustainability report, an international education trends report, blogs, and social media commentary.
- Direct the GEDU policy, advocacy, and thought leadership events programme, including an annual international education conference and smaller sessions such as roundtables.
- Monitor and communicate the Group’s SDG-related activities and achievements, maximizing synergies and sharing best practices.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with external stakeholders related to sustainability and the SDGs.
- Engage with government and multilateral policy initiatives on sustainability and education.
- Collaborate with the MD and UNITAR HQ to design and deliver an impactful programme of 12 annual capacity development activities through CIFAL City of London.
- Ensure effective functioning of CIFAL London, including Advisory Board management.
- Produce briefing documents, presentations, letters, and other communications for internal and external audiences.
- Represent GEDU in industry, parliamentary, and sustainability forums.
- Manage partners and suppliers to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery.
Experience
- Strong understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Proven track record in producing outstanding thought leadership content using research and analytical expertise, preferably on SDGs and sustainability.
- Ability to blend evidence-based data with compelling storytelling and case studies.
- Experience engaging influential online communities through thought leadership and insights.
- Experience conceptualizing and directing events ranging from webinars to conferences.
- Skilled in crafting executive-level briefings and papers.
- Proven relationship-building skills and ability to work effectively across multiple business functions and global locations.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and comfortable working in a digital environment.
