About the Role
Thurrock Council’s ASB & Enforcement Team is seeking an innovative and proactive ASB & Environment Enforcement Officer to deliver a wide range of enforcement activities aimed at improving local communities across Thurrock. This permanent role involves working collaboratively with internal and external partners to tackle environmental crime and anti-social behaviour issues borough-wide, responding proactively to high customer service demand.
You will conduct investigations, issue Fixed Penalty Notices and Statutory Notices, prepare prosecution files to a high standard, and attend court as a witness. The role requires a strong commitment to improving the borough and the ability to manage your own caseload of investigations and enforcement actions, while supporting partners under the Community Safety Partnership.

A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at standard level and Essex Police Vetting (NPPV-2 Full) accreditation under the Community Safety Accreditation Scheme are required for this role.
Experience
Proven knowledge and experience of enforcement legislation including The Environmental Protection Act 1990, Highways Act 1988, Refuse & Disposal Amenity Act 1978, Clean Neighbourhoods Environment Act 2005, and the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. Experience and working knowledge of PACE 1984, CPIA 1996, RIPA 2000, and relevant codes of practice are essential for conducting investigations.

The role requires a willingness to walk significant distances daily and to apply commitment and professionalism in a busy working environment.
Qualifications
A valid manual driving licence is required. Successful candidates must be able to pass a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at standard level and attain Essex Police Vetting at NPPV-2 Full level to obtain Community Safety Accreditation Scheme status.
