About the Role
Life Environmental Services Ltd, an independent national environmental consultancy established in 1995, is seeking two motivated individuals to join as Level 3 Asbestos Surveyor and Analyst Apprentices. The company provides a wide range of environmental consultancy services including asbestos, legionella, and fire consultancy across multiple sectors such as construction, local government, education, social housing, logistics, and manufacturing.
As an apprentice, you will earn a salary while studying towards a nationally recognised Level 3 Asbestos Surveying and Analyst qualification. You will work on-site supporting experienced teams across homes, commercial properties, and industrial sites, gaining hands-on experience through a structured training and development programme.
The role involves asbestos analysis tasks such as air quality monitoring, fibre counting, clearance inspections, air testing, certificate and report completion, and assisting with asbestos removal project management. Surveying duties include collecting and labelling bulk samples, conducting management, refurbishment, and demolition surveys, completing priority risk assessments, and ensuring proper sample handling and data management.
The apprenticeship offers the opportunity to obtain BOHS P402, P403, and P404 qualifications, becoming a certified Asbestos Analyst and Surveyor. Successful completion can lead to a full-time position and further professional development, including pathways to become a registered Science Technician (RSci Tech) and additional asbestos management qualifications.
Benefits include 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, company van, equipment and PPE provided, pension scheme, and regular training and CPD opportunities.
Experience
Previous experience is not essential. We value attitude, curiosity, and commitment. Applicants from all backgrounds, including school or college leavers and those looking to retrain, are welcome.
About you
You must be accurate, diligent, and accountable with a methodical approach and strong attention to detail. Being results-driven and able to quickly identify issues and record findings accurately is essential. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, practical environment, able to think on your feet and make sound decisions.
A genuine commitment to health and safety and adherence to asbestos industry standards is required. Strong communication skills, reliability, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are important.
Due to the site-based nature of the role, you must be aged 20 or over, hold a clean UK driving licence, and be willing to drive to different sites daily. The role involves occasional heavy lifting, working at heights, and in confined spaces.
Qualifications
Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are more important than formal qualifications. Applicants must be over 18, not in full-time education, have lived in the UK for at least 3 years, and have the right to work in the UK.
Applicants already holding a Level 3, degree, or equivalent higher qualification in a related field, or with substantial relevant experience, may not be eligible for apprenticeship funding.
