Although part of a multi-disciplinary Rail consultancy, the MEP team is a tight-knit group, working closely to deliver some of the largest and most complex buildings in the world.

The Stations team within WSP’s Rail business is actively seeking an Associate Director MEP (Rail) to lead teams delivering Rail MEP Building Services for major railway projects. The role includes all aspects of technical delivery from Concept to RIBA 4 / GRIP 5 stages, client engagement, and internal multi-disciplinary coordination. The team offers excellent opportunities for the right candidate to enhance their career and deliver some of the most prestigious Rail Projects in the UK and overseas.

Key responsibilities include:
- Leading Rail stations M&E design team
- Liaising M&E design with the Client and Contractors
- Acting as the focal point between the Client Team and the WSP Design team
- Working closely with the M&E Design team to resolve design issues
- Leading and motivating a team of M&E engineers
- Applying working knowledge of Rail stations Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health systems
- Beneficial knowledge of Telecoms and Fire systems
- Ensuring compliance with Building Regulations, Part L, and other MEP sustainable and Net Zero design requirements
- Delivering highly sustainable, low carbon designs to meet WSP’s and client net zero carbon commitments
- Sharing knowledge and technical skills with colleagues globally
- Using initiative with support from specialists to deliver high-quality construction engineering solutions
- Interpreting client specification requirements and various Standards in design development
- Maintaining contractual and commercial awareness including Employer’s Instructions and Early Warnings

About the Team
You will work closely with like-minded individuals on exciting and challenging projects. The Rail Station MEP team consists of more than 100 mechanical, electrical, and Public Health engineers. You will join a team of professionally qualified, diverse, and talented individuals who collaborate to:
- Undertake project work across the design lifecycle, from early concept to detailed design
- Deliver projects for Network Rail, HS2, TfL, Transport for The North, TfGM, Nexus, Local Authorities, Principal Contractors, and Private Developers

Reporting to the MEP Service Lead of our stations team, you will have the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting and challenging multi-disciplinary Rail stations projects worldwide. Our office provides a quality, flexible, and dynamic working space focused on staff health and wellbeing, featuring cutting-edge design, abundant natural light, large open spaces, and collaborative working areas.

Requirements

Experience
- Proven experience leading MEPFC building services design teams in the Rail environment during Design and Construction stages
- Working knowledge of HS2, Network Rail, and/or London Underground standards
- Experience with M&E building services design requirements in Rail or similarly regulated environments
- Experience working with M&E Clients and Contractors during Initial Design, Detailed Design, and preferably Construction stages
