About the Role
Join WSP's Transport and Mobility Team as an Associate Director, contributing to nationally significant infrastructure projects across England, Scotland, and Wales. In this strategic role, you will provide transport planning and traffic engineering services, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across civil design, environment, infrastructure planning, advisory, and project and programme management. You will focus on critical UK sectors including energy, water, defence, health, and transport.

Key responsibilities include leading technical management and commercial responsibility for transport work on major infrastructure programmes, coordinating new proposals, and contributing to medium and long-term growth strategies to inform business investment and direction. You will lead cross-discipline collaboration, promote intra-business connectivity across the UK and beyond, and act as a role model for wellbeing, health, and safety. Staying current with relevant standards and policies, you will also raise WSP’s profile through networking and attending industry events.

Requirements

Experience
- Managing and coordinating all aspects of transport assessments, management strategies, and infrastructure design advice for major and/or complex projects.
- Delivering multi-disciplinary projects and successfully engaging large teams in hybrid or virtual environments.
- Engaging stakeholders at various levels including local highway and planning authorities, planning inspectorate, Department for Transport, other transport bodies, and local communities.

About you
- Effective communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Adaptability to navigate change with strong negotiation, collaboration, and organisational skills.
- Strong numerical, spatial, and analytical skills.
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Office tools.
- Excellent knowledge of current transport policy at sub-regional, regional, and national levels.
- Understanding of planning consent processes.

Qualifications
Relevant professional qualifications and experience in transport planning or related disciplines are expected to support the role.
