About the Role
At WSP, you will have the opportunity to work on landmark projects and collaborate with some of the brightest minds in the industry. As an Associate Electrical Engineer, you will take a leading role in delivering prestigious building services projects, working within a mechanical, electrical, and public health (MEP) discipline team. Your responsibilities will include providing design and technical advice, supervising detailed design completion, leading feasibility studies, and acting as the client’s key point of contact to ensure successful project delivery aligned with client expectations and internal KPIs.

You will also contribute to business development by fostering excellent client relationships and promoting WSP’s capabilities in the region. Management duties include directing the production of detailed specifications, developing and line managing junior staff, maintaining project oversight, and ensuring resource utilization across projects. You will hold regular team meetings to address resourcing, health and safety, quality, training, and development.

The London team operates within a flexible hybrid working model, supporting a healthy work-life balance. You will be involved in mission-critical building and infrastructure projects at Europe’s busiest airport, leading engineering delivery teams to provide innovative and sustainable solutions. Your work will incorporate WSP’s philosophies of sustainability, net zero carbon, digital design, modern methods of construction, and smart systems.

You will be based in the London office, which offers excellent commuting options and local amenities, working alongside a close-knit group of over 100 mechanical, electrical, and public health engineers dedicated to professionalism, ethical standards, and diversity.

Requirements

Experience
Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking a leading role in managing engineers and delivering key projects. Experience applying technical judgment and resourcefulness across feasibility studies, concept, scheme, detailed design, and construction support phases. Demonstrated capability to manage technical, cost, and programme aspects of project delivery. Working knowledge of UK electrical building services design, including relevant standards, codes, and regulations. BPSS security clearance is a minimum requirement.

Electrical design skills including:
- Low voltage distribution systems
- Cable calculations (ElectricalOM, Amtech, or manual)
- Lighting calculations (software and manual)
- Energy lighting
- Small power
- Fire detection and alarm systems
- Intruder detection
- Access control and security systems
- Disabled call systems
- Data cabling and outlets
- Lightning protection
