About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Biodiversity Data and GIS Officer to manage and enhance our biodiversity data holdings and carry out spatial analysis to maximise the value of the data. This role offers the opportunity to work within a well-established and forward-thinking Local Environmental Record Centre, part of a network of four Welsh record centres. You will play a key role in supporting Nature Recovery efforts by improving the evidence base through biological records. The role involves regular liaison with individuals and organisations to improve data flow and provide support to those generating and using biological data. You will be comfortable managing datasets within Excel, learning new data processes, and presenting complex technical information in a visually accessible way. You will join a small, friendly, and supportive team dedicated to providing robust evidence to inform conservation action and decision making across mid-Wales. Our work is central to the recording community in Powys and the Brecon Beacons National Park, collaborating closely with volunteers, species experts, conservation NGOs, Local Authorities, utility companies, researchers, ecological consultants, and other Welsh LERCs.
Experience
Proven experience in managing biodiversity data and GIS analysis. Comfortable working with Excel and spatial data tools. Experience liaising with diverse stakeholders to improve data quality and flow.
About you
Enthusiastic and motivated with a strong understanding of the importance of biological records in conservation. Able to present complex technical information clearly and visually. A collaborative team player who thrives in a small, supportive environment and values working closely with the wider recording community.
