Salary
£31,368 - £37,298 per annum plus essential user car allowance

About the Role
Working within Neighbourhood Services, you will manage the Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs) under the council’s care along with other ecologically significant sites and the common land in the borough. You will lead environmentally focused projects to meet statutory duties and promote community participation. Acting as the primary point of contact for ecological queries both internally and externally, you will play a key role in supporting the council’s environmental objectives. This role requires a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use due to the essential car user allowance. Successful candidates will also be required to use the Microsoft Authenticator app on their own mobile device for secure network access. The council offers excellent conditions of service including flexible working hours, a pension scheme, and at least 23 days’ paid leave per year (pro rata for part time).

Experience
Experience in managing ecological or biodiversity projects and sites of ecological significance is desirable.

Organised and proactive with a strong commitment to environmental stewardship. Able to work independently and collaboratively within a busy team environment. Confident in engaging with community groups and stakeholders to promote biodiversity initiatives. Must hold a valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle insured for business use.

Qualifications
Relevant qualifications in ecology, environmental science, or a related discipline are preferred but not explicitly stated. Willingness to learn and adapt to council procedures and statutory requirements is essential.
