About the Role
The Carbon Accounting Lead will oversee the measurement, analysis, and reporting of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across the bank's value chain, with a particular focus on financed emissions. This role ensures alignment with global carbon accounting standards such as the GHG Protocol and Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF), supporting the bank's climate strategy and sustainability disclosures. Key responsibilities include driving the development and refinement of GHG emissions accounting methodologies, managing Scope 3 emissions accounting with emphasis on Category 15 (Investments), and serving as the subject matter expert for Scope 1 and 2 emissions. The role involves maintaining emissions quantification models, ensuring compliance with disclosure frameworks like CSRD and TCFD, preparing sustainability reports and regulatory filings, and collaborating cross-functionally to embed emissions data into business-as-usual processes. The Carbon Accounting Lead will also lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, transparency, and assurance readiness while monitoring updates to carbon accounting standards and integrating new methodologies.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in carbon accounting or sustainability reporting, preferably within the financial sector
- Deep expertise in GHG emissions accounting, including GHG Protocol and PCAF methodologies
- Proven ability to lead process improvement initiatives focused on emissions data workflows
- Strong Excel skills, including data aggregation and automation techniques; familiarity with macros is a plus
- Experience preparing data and processes for external review or audit (pre-assurance readiness)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal stakeholders

Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Finance, Data Analytics, or a related field
Desirable
- Familiarity with emerging ESG regulations and disclosure standards such as IFRS S2, EU Taxonomy, and CSRD
- Understanding of financial products and portfolios including corporate lending, project finance, and investment banking
- Experience in decarbonization planning and ability to influence without direct authority
- Knowledge of climate scenario analysis tools (e.g., NGFS, IEA, IPCC pathways)
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
- Proficiency in programming or scripting languages like Python, R, or SQL for advanced data manipulation and automation
- Exposure to internal audit or assurance processes related to sustainability or ESG data
- Prior involvement in industry working groups or sustainability networks (e.g., PCAF, UNEP FI, GFANZ)
