About the Role

The Committee provides a wider advisory role covering all flood and coastal risk management in Wales and acts as a mechanism for effective two-way communication with the flood and coastal erosion risk management sector. It maintains links with all relevant organisations and gathers data, knowledge, and intelligence from all levels of operation to provide effective advice to Welsh Ministers. The Committee also disseminates strategic direction for the flood and coastal erosion risk management sector in Wales.
The chief responsibility of the Chair is to lead the Committee and ensure it meets its overall responsibilities by providing advice to the Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs. This role requires knowledge and experience of flood and coastal erosion risk management at national and international levels, with a particular focus on Wales.
The Welsh Government promotes equality of opportunity in all aspects of its business, including appointments to public bodies. Applications are welcomed from all groups, and no candidate will receive less favourable treatment on any protected grounds. Appointments will be made on merit through fair and open competition.
