A little more about your role… As the demand for our expertise continues to grow, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced (Principal to Associate Director) Clean Water Process Engineer to join our Water Engineering teams. Working within various multidisciplinary project design teams, you will take a key role in the delivery of process engineering design content on a range of challenging water engineering projects, including water and water reuse projects throughout the UK and overseas. You will contribute to project design from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed designs for procurement and construction, as well as review supplier proposals. As an experienced Clean Water Process Engineer, you will work within project teams helping us deliver effective and professional services for a range of varied and high-profile clients. Key responsibilities include producing process design deliverables such as optioneering studies, process calculations, mass balances, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation drawings, sketches, and basis of design reports to achieve optimum project solutions. You will undertake outline or detailed process engineering design, attend site visits for data acquisition and meetings with site operators, provide technical input to procurement processes, support Project Managers in technical discussions with clients, liaise with technology providers and vendors, and participate in HAZOP, HAZID, ENVID, and SWIFT meetings. Additionally, you will provide technical guidance, coaching, and supervision of junior staff, collaborate with other disciplines on multi-disciplinary projects to ensure integration of process engineering design requirements, contribute to proposals, work scopes, schedules, and budgets, and maintain client liaison to ensure their needs are met.
Experience
- Significant experience delivering process engineering design aspects of infrastructure projects, including leading process engineering roles on projects or significant tasks
- Experience in the municipal water industry
- Ability to work mainly unsupervised preparing and reviewing process design deliverables such as technical specifications, calculations, reports, datasheets, schedules, process control philosophies, P&IDs, mass balances, and procurement documentation
- Experience delivering optioneering studies, feasibility, concept designs, and/or detailed design in municipal clean water treatment solutions including Clarification (bottom hopper), DAF, Rapid Gravity Filtration, Disinfection, Taste & Odour/Pesticides Removal, and Chemical Dosing
- Previous experience in consultancy, engineering companies, or relevant industries acting as Process Engineer
- Exceptional time management skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proven ability to prepare high-quality written technical reports and deliver verbal presentations to diverse audiences
- Confident, articulate communicator capable of engaging in professional verbal communications and presentations with colleagues, clients, and sub-contractors
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary meetings (online and face-to-face) and acting as technical representative with external clients
- Ability to work accurately and flexibly, integrating work with other disciplines while managing own and team’s work to tight programmes and budgets
- Willingness and ability to travel and visit operational works and construction sites safely to assess process performance

Qualifications
- Degree or MSc in Chemical or Environmental Engineering
- Professional registration as CEng or working towards Chartership within 12 months
