About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on local climate change mitigation and adaptation by contributing to the development of East Dunbartonshire Council’s wide range of sustainability initiatives. The role focuses on developing the Council’s new Climate Action Plan and assessing the environmental impacts of proposed plans and strategies. You will work closely with internal and external partners to ensure the Council’s commitment to sustainability and climate change is reflected in its policies and activities. Using your specialist knowledge, you will provide advice and guidance on sustainability and climate change, helping the Council meet its statutory responsibilities related to climate change and strategic environmental assessments. This role requires strategic thinking and the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex environmental challenges.
Experience
Good knowledge of climate change and environmental issues, with experience in strategic and policy development preferred.

You will be able to think strategically and develop innovative solutions to challenging problems. You should be motivated to contribute to sustainability and climate change mitigation and adaptation. Strong communication and partnership working skills are essential.
Qualifications
A degree in a relevant subject is required.
