About the Role
Southwark Council has declared a climate emergency and is committed to transforming the council and borough to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030. This role offers the opportunity to lead a fast-moving, multi-million-pound investment programme focused on decarbonising leisure centres, as well as shaping future retrofit schemes across civic buildings and the wider estate. You will work closely with technical advisors, contractors, cross-service teams, and key stakeholders to ensure high-quality delivery. Responsibilities include contract management, technical design review, procurement, on-site delivery, project monitoring and evaluation, risk management, and achieving and monitoring carbon savings.
As part of Southwark’s climate change division, you will join a small, dynamic team delivering one of the council’s top priorities. You will also receive support from a multi-disciplinary programme board and working groups overseeing the operational retrofit strategy. This is a fixed-term position offered initially for 12 months, with potential for extension based on business needs and performance.
Experience
Proven experience in project management, preferably within retrofit, climate change, or construction-related programmes. Ability to manage multi-million-pound projects and coordinate with diverse stakeholders.
