About the Role
Medway Council is seeking a Climate Response Development Officer to lead engagement work supporting the successful delivery of Medway’s Climate Change Action Plan. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of residents and communities by developing and delivering inclusive engagement activities and content that promote local climate action. You will build partnerships and empower people to get involved in climate initiatives.
We are looking for a passionate individual who enjoys working with a diverse range of residents, communities, partners, and colleagues. The role requires strong organisational skills to interpret and communicate data and information in accessible and engaging ways.
The successful candidate will join the Culture and Community team at level A, the entry point for this role. You will be supported through induction, probation, and ongoing performance appraisal and career development conversations. The role offers clear progression opportunities through Medway Council’s Career Progression Framework (CPF), with salary progression from level A to B and C based on demonstrated competencies and development.
Experience
- Effective communication skills to lead workshops, consultations, and public events.
- Experience communicating effectively across a range of audiences.
- Experience planning and delivering communication or engagement activities.
- Knowledge of the role local authorities play in addressing climate change.
