About the Role
The Good Food Institute Europe is an independent nonprofit and think tank dedicated to building a more sustainable, secure, and just food system by diversifying protein production. We champion the science, policies, and investment needed to make plant-based, fermentation-made, and cultivated meat delicious, affordable, and accessible across Europe. By advancing these alternative proteins, we aim to boost food security, meet climate targets, and support nature-friendly farming.

We are seeking a Commercialisation Manager to join our Industry team at an exciting growth stage. As the alternative protein sector matures, companies face critical challenges scaling from innovation to mainstream markets, slowing impact on climate, biodiversity, and public health. In this role, you will identify barriers and lead initiatives to accelerate commercialisation, working with startups and corporates to ensure alternative proteins scale in technically feasible, economically viable ways supported by strong market demand. Our motivation is the creation of a more sustainable, secure, and just food system rather than industry profit.

Key Responsibilities
- Set strategy for GFI Europe’s commercialisation work, focusing on mission impact and scaling the alternative protein sector.
- Engage with companies to understand commercialisation challenges and develop open-access research, resources, and initiatives.
- Conduct research and analyses on scaling topics such as business models, go-to-market strategies, and cost drivers.
- Develop publicly available tools and guidance to support scale-up.
- Build relationships with corporates across the food value chain and collaborate on initiatives to drive demand and scale supply.
- Map commercialisation activities across Europe, identify synergies, and foster collaboration.
- Represent GFI Europe at conferences and events to share insights and convene stakeholders.
- Collaborate with international GFI affiliates and internal colleagues on commercialisation activities.
- Ensure compliance with private benefit guidelines by supporting the ecosystem rather than individual companies.
- Perform other tasks as required within a small, nimble team.

Requirements

Experience
- Proven experience in commercial strategy, operations, business development, corporate innovation, management consulting, investment strategies (venture capital, private equity, investment banking, blended finance, impact investment), or related fields.
- Experience working with startups and corporates, ideally in scaling stages, is advantageous but not required.

About you
- Passionate about GFI’s mission and philosophy.
- Strategic thinker with an innovation mindset, able to develop creative solutions to systemic barriers, especially with limited data.
- Strong commercial expertise including understanding of business models, unit economics, cost drivers, and financing strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships at all organisational levels.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Self-motivated with ownership and initiative to manage multiple projects and drive outcomes independently.
- Comfortable with technology and remote work tools; willingness to learn new systems (training provided).
- Committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and maintaining a welcoming, supportive culture.
- Comfortable working remotely and adapting to a rapidly evolving organisation.
- Fluent in English (working language of the team).
- Additional European language fluency, experience in food, biotech, or climate tech sectors are advantages but not prerequisites.

Qualifications
No specific qualifications required; emphasis on relevant experience, skills, and alignment with mission.
