About the Role
Greenpeace UK is recruiting a Communications & Engagement Co-Head for our climate mission. You will lead the development and delivery of an integrated mission strategy—shaping a clear, compelling narrative and a powerful supporter experience across all communications and engagement activity. Partnering with the Co-Head (Campaigns), you will guide and challenge a multidisciplinary team of campaigners, mobilisers, and communicators to deliver high-impact work.
The role involves rapid response on urgent and politically charged issues such as the Iran conflict, rising oil prices, local elections, and the growing far right, while also steering longer-term strategies on oil and gas accountability and building climate salience with the public.
You will lead the development and delivery of an integrated mission-level communications and engagement strategy, fully aligning with campaign strategy and organisational objectives. You will oversee insight-driven communication and engagement plans across all channels, ensuring strategies are iterative, evidence-based, and responsive to fast-moving political, media, and digital contexts.
Additionally, you will design and guide the mission’s approach to recruiting, engaging, and deepening supporter involvement—from first contact to long-term participation—ensuring a coherent, high-quality supporter experience. You will lead planning, development, and sign-off of communications and engagement outputs, ensuring consistent messaging, high standards, and alignment with strategic priorities.
Task management of communications and engagement specialists will be part of your role, setting clear expectations, fostering innovation and smart risk-taking, and modelling inclusive, anti-oppressive leadership.
A demonstrable commitment to thoughtful and inclusive practice in both external communication and internal collaboration is essential.

Experience
- Strong track record in senior-level strategic communications and engagement, ideally within campaigning or advocacy.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience in developing and implementing multi-channel, insight-driven communication and engagement strategies for complex issues.
- Proven ability to set strategic communications objectives, measure outcomes, and iterate strategies based on evaluation and evolving external landscapes.
- Experience developing approaches that recruit, engage, and deepen supporter commitment over time, building strong, long-term relationships that drive sustained action and impact.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and getting the best out of diverse skills and perspectives.
- Experience working alongside digital and fundraising colleagues on supporter reach, recruitment, and retention is advantageous.

About you
- Ability to work at pace and adapt quickly as the news agenda shifts while maintaining a coherent narrative across multiple issues and channels.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence, guide, and collaborate effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership, campaigners, and specialist teams.
- Genuinely collaborative, co-leadership mindset essential for partnership working with the Campaigns Co-Head.
- Commitment to thoughtful and inclusive practice in communication and internal teamwork.
