Location
Oxford office with flexible home-working arrangements. Communications team members are expected to attend monthly meetings in Oxford, with further in-person meetings as required.

Full time, permanent role with flexible working options.

Salary
£32,000 full time equivalent, Band E on Global Canopy’s remuneration framework.

About the Role
Global Canopy is a data-driven not-for-profit organisation focused on tackling the market forces destroying nature by improving transparency and accountability. We provide innovative open-access data, clear metrics, and actionable insights to companies, financial institutions, governments, and campaigning organisations worldwide. We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Communications Officer to join our dynamic Communications Team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with demonstrable communications experience ready to advance their career.

The successful candidate will spend 80% of their time working with our Trase team, focusing on supply chain transparency and sustainability, and the remaining time supporting communications across our programmatic and brand-building objectives. Responsibilities include supporting the creation and implementation of communications strategies and campaigns, writing content, managing digital channels (websites, mailing lists, social media), and measuring the success of communications efforts to recommend improvements.

Global Canopy is committed to systemic change by targeting market forces that destroy nature. The key audiences for this role include governments, companies, the finance sector, and civil society. We seek someone passionate about addressing deforestation, biodiversity loss, and the climate crisis with these audiences.

Requirements

Experience
Demonstrable experience in communications, marketing, or related fields. Knowledge of communications trends and developments. Editorial and proofreading skills. Experience with website content management, digital analytics (Hootsuite, Google Analytics, Mailchimp), and basic design or video editing is desirable.

About you
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to translate technical information into engaging and accurate content. Strong time management and planning skills. Analytical mindset with attention to detail. Positive, proactive, and enjoys supporting team members. Passionate about environmental issues, especially deforestation and its social impacts. Ability to write in French, Mandarin, Portuguese, Spanish, or Bahasa Indonesia is an advantage.

Qualifications
No specific qualifications required, but relevant experience and skills in communications are essential. Interest in human rights and social dimensions of commodity-driven deforestation and environmental degradation is highly valued.
