About the Role
Are you committed to supporting community-powered change to help nature recover? Do you have the skills to support, teach and demonstrate habitat creation, ecological connectivity, and species strategies? Do you enjoy working collaboratively? If so, this could be the job for you. We are seeking a confident, talented ecologist to work on the exciting new Nature Together project in Bristol, led by Bristol City Council as part of the UK-wide Nature Towns and Cities programme. The Community Ecologist will work with three communities to co-produce projects that support their local climate and nature action plans. The successful candidate will use their experience in habitat creation and share their knowledge of local wildlife species with community volunteers, ensuring activities align with local nature strategies. They will also contribute to the wider communication, evaluation, and dissemination aims of the Nature Together Project. This transformative partnership, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, is designed to help reverse the nature and climate emergencies in Bristol, providing a better quality of life for all. Avon Wildlife Trust is a charity dedicated to working with local people for local wildlife across the West of England region. It is supported by more than 17,500 members, manages over 30 nature reserves, and is one of 46 Wildlife Trusts in the UK. Experience
Proven experience in habitat creation, ecological connectivity, and species strategies. Ability to support, teach, and demonstrate ecological practices to community volunteers.

Confident and collaborative with a passion for community engagement and nature conservation. Able to work effectively with diverse communities and stakeholders. Committed to supporting local climate and nature action plans and contributing to wider project communication and evaluation.
Qualifications
Relevant ecological qualifications or equivalent experience preferred. A strong understanding of local wildlife species and habitat management is essential.
