About the Role
At the Marine Conservation Society, we are dedicated to protecting marine ecosystems and promoting sustainable practices. We are seeking a Conservation Projects Lead to design and deliver targeted ocean restoration projects that enable ecological improvement, with a particular focus on Wales and the potential to develop projects across the UK. You will drive innovative ecological and nature-based solutions focused on biodiversity recovery, turning science into real-world impact.

You will pilot place-based approaches that inform policy and inspire communities, leading evidence-based, place-focused projects to tackle nature decline, trial new marine management techniques, and embed nature-based solutions. Working collaboratively across the organisation, you will align projects with advocacy and policy opportunities, secure investment and funding, and engage communities and stakeholders to maximise impact and long-term sustainability.

In this role, you will manage and support your project team, oversee workplans and budgets, review strategic project impact with senior leadership, and act as a spokesperson for recovery projects with media, partners, and funders. You will also represent the organisation nationally and internationally, building partnerships with statutory bodies, learning institutions, and other organisations to influence decision makers and showcase marine recovery solutions.

Requirements

Experience
- Proven ability in project planning and management with demonstrable experience managing a portfolio of projects.
- Track record of developing high quality funding proposals.
- Experience developing strong and effective partnerships with existing and new audiences to deliver ocean recovery goals.
- Proven ability as an external spokesperson to diverse audiences including media, political, and business sectors.

Able to assess ecological needs and recovery potential to define geographically focused projects. Creative, collaborative, and passionate about marine conservation. Strong communicator with the ability to engage and inspire a wide range of stakeholders. Skilled at building and maintaining strong working relationships to maximise project impact and sustainability.

Qualifications
