About the Role
Help us restore the ocean at the Marine Conservation Society, where we are dedicated to protecting marine ecosystems and promoting sustainable practices. We are seeking a creative and collaborative Conservation Projects Lead to design and deliver targeted ocean restoration projects, with a particular focus on Wales and the opportunity to scale impact across the UK. You will lead the development of innovative ecological and nature-based solutions that drive biodiversity recovery and marine resilience.
In this funded two-year role, you will turn science into real-world nature-based solutions, piloting place-based approaches that inform policy and inspire communities. Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, you will align projects with advocacy and policy goals, secure investment and funding, and engage communities and stakeholders to maximise impact and ensure long-term sustainability.
You will manage and support your project team, oversee workplans and budgets, and review the strategic impact of projects with senior leadership. Additionally, you will represent the organisation at national and international levels, building partnerships with statutory bodies, learning institutions, and other organisations to influence decision makers and showcase marine recovery solutions. You will also act as a spokesperson for recovery projects with media, partners, and funders.
Experience
- Proven ability in project planning and management, with demonstrable experience managing a portfolio of projects.
- A proven track record of developing high-quality funding proposals.
- Ability to develop strong and effective partnerships with existing and new audiences to deliver ocean recovery goals.
- Experience acting as an external spokesperson to diverse audiences including media, political, and business sectors.
