MKA Ecology is a well-established ecological consultancy with offices in Cambridge, Oxford, and London, known for its expertise across all ecological specialisms and commitment to best practice as a CIEEM Registered Practice. In February 2025, we joined the Ecology Group, supporting growth while maintaining our autonomy and team culture. We are seeking a Consultant/Senior Ecologist to lead a variety of projects, support and develop colleagues, build strong client relationships, and contribute to our growing reputation for high-quality ecological consultancy. This role offers the chance to work on diverse projects within a supportive and dynamic team environment.

Experience
At least 5 years’ experience in ecology including project and line management. Developing field skills aligned with the CIEEM Competency Framework. Strong knowledge of key environmental legislation and policy. Experience building client relationships and conducting Ecological Impact Assessments. Proficient report writing and IT skills, including reviewing reports. GIS and database management skills. Full, clean driving licence.

Qualifications
Degree in ecology or a closely related subject. CIEEM membership at the appropriate level. Postgraduate qualification in ecology or related subject is desirable. Protected species licences (e.g. bats, GCN) and recent EPS licence holder preferred. Specialism in ornithology, bats, or other protected species/groups advantageous. Skills to contribute to habitat creation portfolio and experience with Environmental Impact Assessment are desirable.
