About the Role
Coed Cadw (the Woodland Trust in Wales) is seeking a Contracts Manager on a fixed term contract until the end of August 2028 to cover a secondment. This key role will work alongside Site Managers primarily on the Woodland Trust’s own Estate but may also support the Outreach team as required. You will be responsible for supporting the planning, preparation, recording, and delivery of a wide range of forest management operations across Wales.

Your responsibilities will include working with colleagues to plan, specify, tender, procure, and supervise the implementation of an identified programme of land management works on the Estate to the highest professional standards. This includes ensuring full compliance with FSC certification, FISA guidance, and all Woodland Trust Health and Safety policies and procedures. You will ensure all necessary agreements, mitigations, and consents are in place for contract delivery, such as planning consents, felling licences, access agreements, EPS and other species consents, and EIAs.

You will seek best value for money when procuring contracts, identifying opportunities to streamline and increase efficiency through packaging works into multi-site and multi-year contracts. Maximising income and grant aid potential of programmed operations and maintaining accurate financial forecasts will also be key. Where relevant, you will support financial and impact reporting related to funded works.

Additional duties include supporting timber mensuration, data gathering, and tree safety survey work, contributing to the improvement and development of Trust processes and standards, and engaging with key internal and external stakeholders related to the land management programme.

A company car will be provided for this role.
