About the Role
Are you passionate about protecting and enhancing biodiversity whilst engaging with others to deliver positive outcomes for people and wildlife? An excellent opportunity has arisen to join Hart District Council’s multi-award-winning Countryside Department. You will be part of a friendly and professional team of rangers dedicated to maintaining biodiverse, well-managed, and welcoming Countryside Sites. Working across a variety of areas including Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs), Special Protection Areas, and Country Parks, you will gain experience managing diverse habitat types throughout the Hart district. The role also involves supporting the Senior Ranger in delivering Council priorities by increasing the department’s profile, presence, and impact within the community.
Experience
- At least three years’ experience in a similar land management role
- Experience with conservation grazing regimes and working with livestock and graziers
- Practical experience using a wide range of relevant machinery such as tractors, chainsaws, and brush-cutters is desirable

Qualifications
- A current UK driving licence is essential
- Understanding of management plans and a variety of habitat management techniques
- Experience writing work specifications
