About the Role
Brent Council is seeking a full-time Cycling Programme Lead to join our expanding Public Health team. Brent is a vibrant London borough, known for its cultural diversity and the iconic Wembley Stadium. Spanning both inner and outer London, Brent presents a unique mix of economic, environmental, ethnic, and social characteristics, making it a dynamic place to live and work.
This new role is responsible for developing and implementing key strategies that promote health and wellbeing through cycling, aiming to reduce health inequalities. The initial focus includes auditing current cycling and active travel projects across the council, assessing the feasibility of a cycle loan scheme, fostering partnerships, facilitating collaboration, and establishing priorities based on local needs and opportunities.
The goal is to embed cycling and active travel into the agenda of all stakeholders, enhancing public health outcomes across the borough.
We operate a hybrid working model with a requirement to be in the office or at meetings in the borough at least three days per week.

Experience
Proven experience in delivering complex public health or active travel programmes, with a focus on reducing health and social inequalities. Experience working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders across different sectors and seniority levels is essential.

You are a talented and resilient individual, passionate about improving health and wellbeing through cycling and active travel. You possess excellent communication, leadership, and management skills. Highly organised and able to manage multiple projects and initiatives to high standards within tight deadlines. You work well independently and thrive in a fast-paced, reactive environment. Proficiency in IT packages such as PowerPoint, Word, and Excel is required.
Qualifications
Relevant qualifications in public health, project management, or a related field are desirable but not explicitly stated. A commitment to continuous professional development and a positive attitude towards flexible working are important.
