About the Role
At Environment Bank, we’re working together to help restore natural habitats across England. With thousands of acres of new habitat creation already underway, our projects are delivering biodiversity gains and helping vital ecosystems to recover and flourish. As an Ecologist, you will play a key role in securing, creating, and monitoring Environment Bank's network of sites across England, particularly in your defined geographical region. This role involves managing small-scale Habitat Bank projects, conducting ecological surveys, and liaising with landowners to initiate large-scale nature recovery projects. You will work closely with experienced ecologists and the wider project delivery team to ensure project timelines, budgets, and objectives are met.
Experience
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in ecology, environmental science, biology, or a related field. Proven experience conducting ecological surveys and assessments. Strong knowledge of UK ecology, including species identification, habitat classification, and conservation issues.
About you
Proficiency in using ecological survey techniques, statistical analysis software, and GIS tools. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex ecological data and provide evidence-based recommendations. Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical reports and deliver presentations to diverse audiences. Experience in project management and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams. Valid driving license and willingness to travel to various project sites across the UK.
Qualifications
A postgraduate degree in ecology or a specialised area of study is preferred. CIEEM Associate Membership FISC Level 3 – or equivalent botanical skills as per the Botanical Field Skill Pyramid. Familiarity with relevant environmental legislation, regulations, and guidelines in the UK.
