About the Role
EnerSys is a global leader in stored energy solutions for industrial applications with over thirty manufacturing and assembly plants worldwide. The EHS Advisor will support the Company's environmental, health, and safety objectives by promoting high standards and continuous improvement, fostering a culture where EHS is central to operations at the Newport site. This role ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and standards related to design, manufacture, and supply chain activities.

The EHS Advisor will advise and oversee health and safety best practices, develop and implement EHS programs in collaboration with the EHS Manager, and ensure compliance with UK and EU legislation, local regulations, industry standards, and EnerSys initiatives. Key responsibilities include leading incident investigations, minimizing exposure to hazardous substances, supporting site EHS committees, managing employee inductions, and providing timely reports to management.

The role also involves developing accident prevention strategies through risk assessments and data analysis, supporting EOS projects, managing change programs to reduce EHS impacts, and advising on regulatory topics such as REACH, RoHS, and the Battery Directive. The Advisor will maintain and improve the environmental, health, and safety management system (ISO 45001 & ISO 14001), coordinate audits, manage blood lead programs, oversee PPE and occupational health provisions, and ensure compliance with IPPC Permit conditions.

Additional responsibilities include driving environmental improvements in waste management and utilities usage, reporting environmental incidents promptly, and contributing to the development and implementation of environmental policies and practices.

Requirements

Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in environmental, health and safety within a heavy industrial unionized manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of EHS legislation and regulations applicable to UK and EU operations
- Experience with management systems including ISO 14001, ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and internal auditing
