About the Role
EnerSys is a global leader in stored energy solutions for industrial applications, with over thirty manufacturing and assembly plants worldwide servicing more than 10,000 customers in over 100 countries. The EHS Advisor will support EnerSys Newport operations by promoting high standards in environmental, health, and safety disciplines and fostering a culture where EHS is central to all activities. This role involves ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards applicable to design, manufacture, and supply chain processes.
The EHS Advisor will advise and oversee health and safety best practices, develop and implement EHS programs alongside the EHS Manager, and coordinate incident investigations to establish root causes and corrective actions. The role includes minimizing exposure to hazardous substances, supporting site EHS committee meetings, managing new employee inductions, and providing timely reports to management. The Advisor will also develop and monitor accident prevention strategies, support EOS projects, and contribute to change management programs to reduce EHS impacts.
Additional responsibilities include maintaining and improving the environmental, health, and safety management system (ISO 45001 & ISO 14001), managing blood lead programs, coordinating PPE and occupational health provisions, ensuring compliance with IPPC Permit conditions, and driving environmental improvements such as waste management and utilities usage. The Advisor will also collate, analyze, and report EHS data and ensure timely investigation and reporting of environmental incidents.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years environmental, health and safety experience in a heavy industrial unionized manufacturing environment.
- Experience with management systems including ISO 14001, ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and internal auditing.
- Knowledge of UK and EU derived EHS legislation and regulations relevant to manufacturing operations.

Qualifications
- NEBOSH General Certificate.
