About the Role
We are seeking an EHS Advisor on a Fixed Term Contract to lead a Risk Assessment improvement and development project. You will support the development, implementation, and maintenance of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), Biosafety (BSY), and Bio-security strategies, procedures, and initiatives across the Pirbright site. This role ensures proactive EHS, Biosafety, and Bio-security behaviours, enabling employees to work compliantly within a highly regulated environment. This is a fully site-based position with a contract ending 31 October 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advice and recommendations on EHS matters to ensure compliance with UK legislation and corporate requirements
- Participate in creating, developing, and maintaining EHS/BSY documentation including SOPs and risk assessments
- Record, investigate, and file all incidents, near misses, and accidents
- Conduct EHS inspections and BSY audits at designated locations
- Support priority projects as assigned
- Assist in developing and maintaining site incident response and crisis management processes
- Perform periodic validation of fumigation locks
- Participate in global EHS audits and regulatory visits (HSE or Environment Agency)
- Support follow-up and closure of actions from investigations, risk assessments, inspections, and audits
Qualifications
NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification
Experience
- Knowledge and experience of EHS/BSY regulations and legal frameworks
- Experience with risk assessment and root cause analysis methodologies
- Ability to deliver training on EHS/BSY topics
