About the Role
Are you passionate about sustainability and ready to make a tangible impact? Join the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew Sustainability Team as an Energy Assistant providing maternity cover. You will support the Energy Manager in delivering high-quality energy and water management, focusing on utilities data analysis, billing management, identifying inefficiencies, and developing utilities software systems. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual who is a positive problem solver, meticulous in approach, and committed to delivering excellent service. You will be self-driven with a strong interest in data and reporting, excellent time management skills, and a keen eye for detail. Kew is a major energy consumer with utility costs exceeding £4 million annually, powering glasshouses, laboratories, and collections essential to its mission. The interim Energy Strategy (2022) prioritizes reducing carbon emissions, managing costs and exposure to volatile energy markets, and ensuring long-term energy security and resilience. The role supports rapid improvements in data and contract management to monitor performance, meet targets, and address inefficiencies. Initiatives include deploying renewables, electrifying heating and transport, and fostering a culture of sustainability among staff and visitors. Experience
Experience in energy management, data analysis, or sustainability-related roles is desirable. Candidates with transferable skills and a passion for sustainability are welcome.
