About the Role
Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS trusts, providing a full range of hospital and community services across south London and specialist care for patients from further afield. The Trust includes five renowned hospitals: Guy’s, St Thomas’, Evelina London Children’s Hospital, Royal Brompton and Harefield, alongside community services in Lambeth and Southwark. With a workforce of around 22,700 staff, the Trust is committed to clinical excellence, research, innovation, and delivering high quality, safe patient care.

The Energy Manager will be the Trust’s lead specialist responsible for establishing, monitoring, and overseeing the management of utilities across the organisation. This role leads and coordinates the Trust’s strategic approach to energy and water management and carbon reduction, embedding sustainable practices across policies and operations. The post-holder will be a key stakeholder in the Trust’s efforts to rapidly decarbonise its healthcare estate in line with the NHS net zero target of 2040 for emissions under direct control.

Main duties include managing utilities consumption, costs, and carbon footprint; overseeing utility supplier and energy services contracts; maintaining the relationship with the strategic energy partner; ensuring compliance with legislation and regulations; managing tenant invoicing on utilities; developing metering, monitoring, and targeting strategies; and securing funding for the decarbonisation programme across the estate.

The Trust is committed to supporting flexible working arrangements to promote a healthy work-life balance and encourages applicants to discuss individual circumstances during the recruitment process.
