About the Role
The Engagement Coordinator will join the Engagement Team at Trees for Cities, playing a key role in involving local communities and schools in tree-planting and urban greening projects. This role focuses on engaging people of all ages and backgrounds in learning about and taking action for trees and the environment. You will support and coordinate site-based activities and events that encourage thousands of adults and children to participate in our tree planting programmes, including the award-winning Trees for Schools initiative which transforms urban school grounds into greener, healthier spaces.

The role involves establishing and maintaining school tree planting projects, climate-adapted gardens, and food growing projects with pupils, as well as supporting teaching staff to embed outdoor learning through trees and green spaces into the curriculum. You will deliver school tree planting and educational workshops, conduct community consultations, and coordinate events around public tree planting projects.

You will work closely with another Engagement Coordinator, the Engagement Manager, and teams across Urban Forest, Build and Design, Monitoring and Impact, and Marketing and Communications to deliver multiple overlapping projects with diverse London communities. This public-facing role requires confident and adaptable communication skills to engage residents, schools, and interest groups.

The role requires a hands-on approach, working outdoors in all weather conditions at various locations, including some weekends (with TOIL). You will also work indoors in an office environment. We seek practical, highly organised individuals capable of coordinating event logistics and leading everything from small workshops to large public community events involving hundreds of participants.

Trees for Cities offers a warm and supportive team environment, in-the-job training, and personal career planning for candidates with varied relevant experience and a willingness to learn more.
