About the Role
The Woodland Trust is seeking an Engagement Officer to join our Northern Ireland team. This key role focuses on delivering opportunities for audiences to connect with woods and trees through a variety of engagement activities on our estate and in partnership with others. You will lead the public engagement aspects of our visitor offer at key sites across Northern Ireland, working closely with estate colleagues to plan activities, communicate key messages, and enhance the visitor experience. You will plan and deliver an annual engagement plan, identifying key audiences and activities both on and off our estate to effectively achieve our objectives. Supporting the development of improved visitor experience at key sites will include data collection, visitor monitoring, evaluation, and interpretation planning. This role is a fixed term contract for 12 months and requires a DBS check as part of pre-employment screening.

Requirements

Experience
- Planning and delivering high quality face-to-face engagement activities, ideally within a public-facing visitor setting
- Developing appropriate engagement materials for diverse audiences including visitors and supporters
- Working with communities including young people, schools, and community groups
- Knowledge of successful interpretation and experience planning and implementing creative interpretation features
- Understanding of Health and Safety in public engagement and what constitutes a successful visitor experience

About You
You will have enthusiasm for the environment and share our core values: Grow Together, Explore, Focus, and Make it Count. A proactive ‘can-do’ attitude, excellent communication skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to build effective partnerships internally and externally are essential.

Qualifications
A full driving licence is required. The role requires a satisfactory DBS check as part of pre-employment. No other specific qualifications are stated, but relevant experience and alignment with the role’s requirements are important.
