As an Environment & Management Systems Officer, you will provide expert advice and assistance to company management to ensure compliance with environmental legislation and sustainability in line with Air Liquide Group requirements and UK statutory provisions. Your responsibilities will include establishing a carbon footprint methodology for UK operations, reviewing and proposing carbon reduction methods, conducting internal environmental audits to comply with ISO 14001, and participating in external ISO 14001 audits alongside the Chief Industrial Auditor. You will ensure accurate submission of reports required by various legal frameworks such as Extended Producer Responsibility, Energy Intensive Industry Exemption Scheme, Climate Change Agreement, F-Gas Annual Activity Reporting, and Streamlined Energy Carbon Reporting (SECR). Additionally, you will review quarterly environmental data from sites, manage supplier reviews for electricity, gas, water, and waste management, and escalate any issues appropriately. The role also involves supporting special projects impacting the Environmental Management System, reviewing environmental events, assisting with root cause analyses, liaising with authorities on environmental matters, and representing Air Liquide UK on the UK Industrial Gases Industry Environmental Technical Sub-committee. You will support the Compliance Manager in implementing Integrated Management Systems (IMS) and ensuring compliance with ISO management standards including ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and ISO 22000.
Experience
- 2-3 years industrial experience, preferably in the gas or chemicals industry
- Familiarity with environmental legislation and management systems
- Experience in Occupational Health and Safety roles is an advantage

Qualifications
- Degree in environmental science, energy management, or a related discipline
- Technically qualified professional in environmental or physical sciences or similar
- IEMA membership (Associate or Practitioner level) and/or NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate preferred
- Training and support can be arranged for the right candidate
- Familiarity with Google Workspace is an advantage
