About the Role
Are you passionate about protecting the environment and driving sustainable change? South Staffs Water is seeking an experienced Environment Manager to lead our environmental strategy and ensure regulatory compliance across our operations. This pivotal role requires someone who thrives on collaboration, innovation, and making a tangible impact on the environment and local communities. You will lead the development of our long-term environmental strategy, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes for our environment, water quality, water resources, and customers.
Key responsibilities include leading and managing the delivery of the Water Industry Environment Programme (WINEP), collaborating with regulators, stakeholders, and third parties. You will drive projects focused on biodiversity net gain, invasive species management, and environmental destination outcomes. Overseeing environmental compliance through monitoring, reporting, investigations, and pollution event response will be essential. You will maintain and enhance our Environmental Management Systems (EMS), chair the internal Environmental Working Group to champion sustainability, and facilitate cross-departmental dialogue. Additionally, you will lead climate change risk assessments and adaptation reporting, represent South Staffs Water at industry forums and stakeholder events, and promote a strong Health and Safety culture ensuring all training is current. Experience
Minimum 3 years’ experience in an environmental role with proven expertise in environmental management or sustainability. Strong background in project management and stakeholder engagement. In-depth knowledge of UK environmental legislation and ecological principles.
About you
Excellent communication and influencing skills. Self-motivated with the ability to manage a varied workload across multiple sites. A full UK driving licence is required. You should be collaborative, innovative, and committed to making a positive environmental impact.
Qualifications
Professional registration such as EnvTech, CEnv, or REnv is desirable but not essential.
