About the Role
RPS, a Tetra Tech company, is seeking an Environmental Consultant to join the Permitting and Compliance team based in various locations across the UK. The team provides expert permitting and compliance services supporting projects that contribute to the UK’s Net Zero commitment. RPS has led the market by securing the first permit for a carbon capture and utilisation project in the UK. The Permitting and Compliance Team supports a diverse range of projects including waste management, conventional and renewable energy, oil and gas, and other major industrial clients. The role involves supporting clients throughout the project lifecycle from initial permit advice and applications to ongoing compliance, permit variations, and eventual permit surrender.

What you will be doing
- Assisting with the preparation of applications for environmental permits, licenses, and approvals from regulatory agencies, including new applications, variations, and permit surrender.
- Supporting the development of environmental management system documents and management plans required by clients’ environmental permits.
- Undertaking permit monitoring and reporting to UK regulators.
- Delivering work assigned by senior staff to a high standard and within deadlines.
- Ensuring all work complies with the approved quality assurance system.

Experience
- Some previous experience in preparing environmental permit applications.
- Good understanding of UK regulatory permitting legislation, guidance, and requirements.
- Strong project management skills.
- Good communication and problem-solving abilities.
