About the Role
Waste Investigations Support & Enforcement (WISE) work closely with Local Authorities to tackle littering and fly tipping issues using advanced technology and extensive industry experience. As an Environmental Enforcement Officer - Team Manager, you will patrol the borough in an intelligence-led manner and enforce relevant legislation by issuing Fixed Penalty Notices where necessary. You will act as a brand ambassador for both the local authority and WISE, serving as the first point of contact for clients.
Your responsibilities will include patrolling according to deployment strategies, investigating complaints and documenting outcomes, managing team equipment sign-in/out, ensuring coverage during absences to maintain exceptional service, and completing daily vehicle inspection forms before driving company vehicles. You will also engage and educate the public on environmental crime offences, follow WISE's Standard Operating Instructions when issuing Fixed Penalty Notices, and attend court to give evidence when required.
Experience
- Enforcement (any): Minimum 2 years (required)
- Customer service: 1 year (preferred)
- Teamwork: 1 year (preferred)
- Statement taking: 1 year (preferred)
- Investigations: 1 year (preferred)
About you
You must have excellent communication skills and be able to remain resilient in demanding situations. You should be able to use your own initiative while working effectively within a team environment. This role requires regular outdoor work on foot in all weather conditions, so physical fitness is essential. Clear and concise writing skills are important. You must be capable of successfully completing the Environmental Crime Induction Course and be signed off as competent for independent patrol by your assigned Training Officer.

Successful candidates will undergo vetting and must cooperate fully during the screening process to avoid delays.
