About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager at our Seaforth, Liverpool site. As a key member of the Site Operations Team and part of the EHS Centre of Excellence (CoE), you will facilitate the deployment of ADM's safety, health and environmental strategy across the location, ensuring compliance with regulatory and ADM standards while driving continuous improvement of EHS performance and results.
Your responsibilities will include working closely with the EHS CoE and location management to coordinate and implement safety, health and environmental strategies aimed at achieving zero injuries or incidents. You will develop and maintain training programs for employees and contractors to foster a behavioural-based safety culture. Compliance management will be a key focus, ensuring risk is effectively managed with particular attention to Total Process Safety (e.g. DSEAR, Fire compliance) and ADM's Life Critical Standards such as permit to work systems.
You will assist operations by coordinating the creation, review and training of Risk Assessments, Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Equipment Specific Lock Outs (ESLPs). Working closely with the Site Compliance Manager, you will ensure adherence to UK Environmental legislation and ADM's environmental standards. You will also oversee insurance checks for lifting equipment, fall arrest equipment, pressure vessels, and more.
A significant portion of your time will be spent in the field conducting site walkabouts, monitoring activities, engaging with employees and contractors, and performing compliance checks and audits to ensure corporate and site standards are consistently met.
In addition, you will support and maintain ADM's SHE management systems, analyze data to identify trends, and provide guidance to drive continuous improvement. You will assist with root cause investigations and reporting of any injuries or EHS incidents, ensuring timely implementation of follow-up actions.
Effective communication is essential in this role. You will liaise with the UK Area H&S Manager, location management, and EHS CoE colleagues across ADM locations to ensure alignment with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements. You will also maintain communications with external bodies such as the HSE, Environment Agency, emergency services, and industry groups.
Experience
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role within a Production or Manufacturing environment
- Experience or understanding of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering processes and procedures
- Knowledge of combustible dust hazards and Hazard Area Classification
- Experience with Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and Permit to Work Systems
- EHS compliance and auditing experience

Qualifications
- A recognised Health & Safety qualification is preferred
- Educated to degree level in Health and Safety, Engineering, or equivalent experience demonstrating ability to operate at this standard
