About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Environmental Manager to join our team on the Harburn Framework, supporting the delivery of a range of exciting infrastructure schemes. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to further develop your skills and take on increasing levels of responsibility within a collaborative and inclusive company that is one of the most successful in the UK infrastructure industry.
Key responsibilities include delivering environmental advice and guidance to minimise risk, assisting with the development and implementation of environmental elements of the Integrated Management System (IMS) to maintain ISO14001 certification, and supporting environmental strategy and management action plans aligned with corporate requirements. You will lead inspections, audits, and investigations, report findings, and implement improvements. Collaboration with the Environmental Manager on IMS development and participation in advisory teams to monitor and review performance is essential.
Additional duties include contributing to pre-contract and work-winning activities, reviewing compliance with environmental management systems and legislation, promoting environmental best practices, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and industry standards, liaising with customers on environmental matters, leading the use of company performance measurement tools, and assisting in training staff, operatives, and subcontractors to ensure legal compliance.

About the Energy Business Unit
Our Energy Business Unit has extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators. We provide transmission and distribution services involving the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Our work includes installation and maintenance of assets such as excavation, laying and jointing of cables (fluid filled and XLPe), substations, overhead lines, new builds, repairs, and refurbishment services. Experience
- Proven experience in a similar environmental or compliance-focused role.
- Demonstrable ability to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.
- Solid understanding of construction practices and industry standards.
- Experience working effectively in team environments across projects, sites, or operational areas.

Qualifications
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a related subject.
- Practitioner-level member of IEMA (PIEMA), actively working toward Chartered status.
- Holder of recognised internal auditing qualifications.
- In-depth understanding of corporate strategy, values, and objectives.
- Comprehensive knowledge of ISO14001 Environmental Management System and its practical implementation.
