About the Role
The Enviro Crime Team within Regulatory Services is seeking an Environmental Protection Officer to join our frontline service. This role is key to protecting Enfield’s streets and public spaces by investigating abandoned, untaxed, and nuisance vehicles, as well as highways offences. This is a varied and active role, where you will spend much of your week out on district, investigating complaints, gathering evidence, and taking enforcement action where appropriate. You will play a vital role in tackling environmental crime and protecting the quality of life in Enfield. Supported by a dedicated team, you will gain experience in a wide range of enforcement activities aimed at keeping the borough safe, clean, and welcoming.
Experience
Motivated and proactive officers with strong investigative and enforcement skills are sought. Experience working within a local authority enviro crime team is desirable but not essential. Candidates with enforcement experience and a “can do” attitude who are eager to develop within environmental protection are encouraged to apply. Training will be provided to suitable candidates with relevant enforcement backgrounds.
About you
Ability to investigate complaints, record evidence, take witness statements, and prepare prosecution files to a high standard. Strong communication and organisational skills with attention to detail in case management. Willingness to work independently across the borough as part of day-to-day duties. Ability to travel across Enfield is essential, therefore a full UK driving licence or alternative transport is required.
Qualifications
Existing Technical Officers or Environmental Health Officers (including newly qualified candidates) are welcome to apply. No specific qualifications are mandatory, but relevant enforcement experience and a commitment to professional development are important.
