About the Role
The Public Health Team within Regulatory Services is seeking an Environmental Protection Officer to join our frontline service. This role is key to protecting Enfield’s streets and public spaces by investigating complaints of domestic and commercial nuisances, filthy and verminous premises, waste on private land, and defective drainage. There will be opportunities to gain experience in air quality, contaminated land, and permitted premises.
This is a varied and active role, where you will spend much of your week out on district, investigating complaints, gathering evidence, and taking enforcement action where appropriate.

Experience
Experience of working within a local authority environmental protection or pollution team is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from existing Technical Officers or Environmental Health Officers, including newly qualified candidates or those wishing to complete their training to be registered with the CIEH. Individuals with enforcement experience and a proactive “can do” attitude eager to develop within environmental protection are encouraged to apply. Training will be provided to suitable candidates with relevant enforcement backgrounds.

About you
You will be a motivated and proactive officer with strong investigative and enforcement skills. You must have strong communication and organisational skills, with attention to detail in case management. You should be willing to work independently across the borough as part of your day-to-day duties. A full UK driving licence (or alternative transport) is essential to travel across Enfield.

Qualifications
Relevant qualifications or registrations are desirable but not essential as training will be provided. Commitment to professional development and a positive attitude towards learning are important.
