About the Role
Join Balfour Beatty's Major Projects team in Derby as an Environmental Sustainability Manager and play a key role in delivering complex projects that make a real difference to our business and the environment. You will ensure projects comply with all relevant regulations, company policies, planning permissions, and management systems. Your role will include supporting project teams to meet contractual and compliance requirements, providing environmental and sustainability leadership, and advising all levels within the project including managers, engineers, operatives, and subcontractors. You will lead environmental inspections, audits, and incident investigations, promote sustainability initiatives and innovations, and contribute to continuous improvement through sharing lessons learned and developing case studies that highlight Balfour Beatty’s expertise. You will also manage external stakeholders, regulators, and reputation in line with the company’s business approach, providing regular updates to the leadership team on sustainability performance.

Experience
- Proven experience in the Civil Engineering or Construction industry in an environmental and/or sustainability role
- Experience leading a team
- Cost estimation and commercial awareness
- Experience implementing ISO 14001
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to operate in diverse environments
- Strong organisational skills
- Full UK driving licence

Qualifications
- Degree in a relevant field
- Internal environmental auditor qualification (desirable)
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (desirable)
