
Location
Field Studies Council Bishops Wood, Worcestershire. Situated close to the River Severn and Wyre Forest, a short drive from the M5. The role requires regular travel to learning locations in Birmingham to deliver Urban Geography courses and activities in Birmingham Parks.
Hours
Permanent full-time contract, average 37.5 hours per week. Weekly hours will vary throughout the year, with busier periods requiring more hours and quieter weeks fewer.
Salary
Circa £27,350 per annum plus excellent benefits including generous annual leave, life assurance, and a health cash plan.
About the Role
Spend your days teaching outdoors at inspiring field study sites rather than in a classroom. You will work with primary and secondary schools, colleges, and universities to deliver curriculum-linked activities that enhance students' understanding of nature and the environment. Your responsibilities include developing, planning, and delivering courses in outdoor teaching sites focused on science and geography school trips. You will lead groups of all abilities in the local environment, always prioritising health and safety. When not working in the field, you will contribute to other aspects of running a busy education centre. This is an active role that can be physically demanding at times, but it is highly rewarding and fulfilling for those passionate about outdoor education and environmental awareness. The centre is set in stunning ancient woodland with unique sustainable buildings, outdoor learning areas, natural wood and willow sculptures, and a large pond, providing a rich environment for learning and teaching.
Experience
Previous experience of teaching or tutoring is required. Experience in producing and preparing various learning resources is also expected.
