About the Role
Enfield Council is a dynamic local authority driven by a clear vision to transform the borough, address inequality, and create a lifetime of opportunities for everyone who lives, works, and learns in Enfield. We have a vacancy in the Finance Business Partnering team for a Finance Manager to lead the financial support provided to the Council and senior management for the Environment and Communities Directorate. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will be the finance lead for these service areas and oversee a team of five staff.

Key responsibilities include:
- Providing expert financial advice and support to the Environment and Communities Directorate, including strategic financial planning, budget setting, financial reporting, and supporting and challenging decision making.
- Delivering clear financial analysis that presents financial performance, cost drivers, levers for change, and implications to senior management and non-financial staff. This includes understanding the operational activities behind financial outputs to gain in-depth service insight.
- Collaborating closely with finance colleagues to support corporate reporting and other requirements such as budget processes, financial monitoring, account closure, and service-wide initiatives and improvements.
- Ensuring robust financial controls, processes, and accurate record keeping while leading continuous service improvement.
- Providing staff support and management.

Requirements

Experience
Proven strong business partnering skills and commercial acumen with an in-depth understanding of finance and funding requirements within Environment and Communities functions in a local authority setting.

About you
Ability to provide expert financial advice and support senior management effectively. Strong leadership skills to manage and support a team. Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with a commitment to continuous improvement and collaborative working.

Qualifications
Fully qualified accountant or at final stage of qualification with an expectation to be fully qualified within six months of joining.
