London, SW8 (hybrid working with flexibility to work 4-5 days a week, 30-37.5 hours per week, excluding one hour for lunch)

Hours
Full Time, flexible working arrangements using Flexi Time policy (core hours 9.30am-midday and 2.30pm-4.30pm). Occasional evening and weekend work may be required with time off in lieu.

Salary
£30,000 - £33,000 per annum pro rata

About the Role
The Bat Conservation Trust (BCT) is the leading non-governmental organisation dedicated to bat conservation and habitat protection. We are passionate about preserving these remarkable creatures and are seeking a detail-oriented Finance Officer to join us on an eight month fixed-term contract. This role offers the opportunity to work within a mission-driven organisation, supporting the financial health and smooth running of operations that directly contribute to bat conservation.

As Finance Officer, you will manage key finance functions including accounts payable and receivable, processing payments, journals, reconciliations, and supporting budgeting and reporting. You will contribute to year-end accounts preparation and ensure strong financial governance and compliance. Your role will also involve identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and efficiency, supporting payroll processing, managing debtor processes, maintaining accurate HMRC records, processing accruals, prepayments and depreciation, assisting with cash flow monitoring and reporting, and supporting annual audit preparation.

Requirements

Experience
Proven experience in a finance or bookkeeping role with strong financial management and budgeting skills. Knowledge of budgeting practices including full cost recovery is essential. Experience with double-entry bookkeeping and proficiency in financial management software (currently Sage 50) and Microsoft Excel is required.

Qualifications
