About the Role
We’re looking for a forward-thinking and proactive Flood Risk and Resilience Manager to lead vital work that safeguards people, infrastructure, and the environment. In this role, you’ll take the lead on the authority’s statutory responsibilities around flood risk management, sustainable drainage, and infrastructure resilience. You will play a key part in shaping and delivering capital projects and community initiatives that reduce flood risk and improve the wider water environment. Your responsibilities will include leading the authority’s statutory functions related to flood risk, surface water, and drainage systems; developing strategies and policies that support sustainable drainage and long-term infrastructure resilience; working with internal teams, partners, and stakeholders to deliver capital schemes and community engagement projects; identifying opportunities to enhance the local water environment in line with environmental and climate goals; and providing expert advice and guidance on flood and water management across the organisation.

In-depth experience in flood risk management, sustainable drainage, water cycle planning, watercourse and sewer infrastructure, and climate change. Proven track record in project management, strategic thinking, and data-driven decision making. About you

Skilled at responding to technical enquiries, presenting complex ideas to varied audiences, and negotiating with professionalism and clarity. Strong strategic thinker with the ability to translate technical information into clear, concise reports and recommendations for senior managers and committees, demonstrating both subject matter expertise and political sensitivity.
