About the Role
AtkinsRéalis is seeking a pro-active and enthusiastic Geo-Environmental / Contaminated Land Consultant to join our award-winning Contaminated Land & Hydrogeology team within the Sustainable Land and Resource Management Practice. You will contribute to major UK infrastructure projects across transportation, energy, buildings and places, and water markets. Your responsibilities will include organisation, collation and assessment of desk-based information for Phase 1 Contaminated Land Desk Studies; design and supervision of Phase 2 site investigations; conducting environmental and geo-environmental site investigation and monitoring activities; and preparation and delivery of factual and interpretative reporting. The role involves regular site-based work such as soil sampling, logging, environmental monitoring, and contractor supervision. You will ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies, prepare H&S plans, manage digital data, develop conceptual site models, and undertake qualitative and quantitative risk assessments for human health and the water environment. Additional duties include supporting remediation design, implementation and verification, managing your own workload, and maintaining professional development with support from the business. Requirements

Experience
- Degree qualified in a relevant engineering or science subject such as geology, geography, hydrogeology, chemistry, earth sciences, or environmental science.
- Relevant post-graduate experience, ideally within a consultancy environment.
- Proven track record of delivering projects on time, on budget, and to quality and client expectations.
- Demonstrable understanding of land contamination and brownfield land issues, including relevant codes of practice and industry standards.
- Experience in site-based work including soil and rock logging, soil/gas/vapour/leachate/groundwater and surface water monitoring and sampling.
- Experience supervising contractors undertaking trial pitting and drilling activities on brownfield sites.
- Familiarity with Principal Contractor duties under CDM Regulations 2015.
- Experience managing large project data, especially GIS and AGS data, using software such as QGIS and/or ArcGIS.
- Experience delivering site-based work on active gas and electricity infrastructure distribution/transmission sites is desirable.
- Willingness to travel and undertake site-based work across the UK.

Qualifications
- Degree in a relevant subject as stated above.
- Working towards Chartered Membership of a relevant professional body is preferred.
- Further training will be provided as required to support your development.
