About the Role
Join Cundall's leading Sustainability & Building Physics team, a key part of our international business and a recognised global leader in sustainability. This position is set to start in September 2026. Our team is passionate about designing innovative, sustainable, and energy-efficient solutions that minimise natural resource use. As a Graduate Sustainability Engineer, you will have the opportunity to contribute to award-winning projects such as the Hong Kong Science Park, Australia's first 6 star Green Star community, and the largest biomedical precinct in the Southern Hemisphere.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for talented sustainability graduates to work on some of the most exciting sustainable design projects in the UK and internationally. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will develop your skills in energy modelling and assist in creating energy and sustainability strategies for new and existing buildings. Your work will span several key areas including building physics and parametric modelling, building performance optimisation, certification and compliance, health and wellbeing guidance, net zero and whole life carbon services, and sustainability design and ESG services.

As your professional skills develop, you will be encouraged and supported to work towards Chartership through one of our accredited training schemes, with opportunities to take on increasing responsibility and autonomy.

Requirements

Experience
On target to achieve at least a 2:2 degree. Desirable to have or be on course to achieve a BEng/MEng degree in Sustainable Engineering, the Built Environment, or an equivalent qualification. Demonstrable knowledge and experience of building physics, particularly heat transfer, energy, thermal comfort, and natural ventilation. Familiarity with climate-based daylighting analysis, operational energy calculation using TM54, sustainability rating tools such as BREEAM, and life cycle carbon costing is beneficial.

About you
Organised and methodical in managing tasks and priorities, with a strong focus on meeting deadlines. Collaborative and empathetic, able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with internal and external stakeholders. Proactive and positive, using initiative to overcome challenges. Interest or experience in digital engineering is highly valued, ideally with knowledge of parametric modelling techniques (Grasshopper or Dynamo) or at least one modern programming language such as Python, C#, or VB.

Qualifications
Must have the right to work in the UK as sponsorship is not provided. Commitment to professional development and progression towards Chartered status with a relevant professional body.
